The joint Seat Allocation authority is an initiative of MHRD ( Ministry of Human Resources  Development). With this examination students can have seats in IITs, NITs, IIEST, and other GFTIs. For this academic year the total institutes in which the seat allocation is monitored by JOSAA is 97 for the academic year 2017 and 2018.

After the release of JEE Main Results this authority comes in to action and allots seats in the above institution through different rounds of seat allocations. The students have chosen the colleges all over India. Initially mock allocation of the seats in two phases is announced and finally on 28th June 1st round of seat allocation is announced.

Students who are not satisfied with the seat and college have not reported to the reporting centers for the next five days.  Today morning the seats vacant after 1st round of seat acceptance is released. According to this information 6799 seats are still vacant in the institutes participated in the examination.

According to statistics the total seats available for the academic year is 36208. Of this seats in various IIT and IIMs with the first round of seat allocation by JOSAA a total of 29415 have completed the seat acceptance.

With this information the authority will declare JOSAA 2nd Round Seat Allocation to the available seats today evening. The students who will to join in the college allotted can report at the reporting centers tomorrow and day after tomorrow.

Students who want to withdraw the seats must also attend to the centers and report to the venues of the examination. In total there are seven rounds of seat allotment. By 19th July all these rounds of seat allotment and seat acceptance is over.
